Terms of Service

Effective and last updated November 1, 2026 · Trohn App LLC ("we", "us")

Key points. New members get a 7-day free trial, then the plan you chose renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in the app (Settings → Account → Manage subscription). If you cancel during the trial, you're never charged. You must get everyone's consent before recording them where the law requires it. Your notes stay on your device, so keep backups of anything important.

1. Agreement

These Terms are an agreement between you and Trohn App LLC for the Trohn Notetaker AI app and website (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. You must be at least 13 to use the Service, and 18 or older (or have a parent or guardian's permission) to buy a plan.

2. Plans and billing

PlanPriceRenews
Yearly$9.99 per year. No setup fee.Every year, until you cancel
Monthly$1.00 per month, plus a one-time $2.00 setup fee charged with your first paymentEvery month, until you cancel

Prices are in US dollars. Applicable sales tax may be added where required by law, and the total is shown before you pay. On our website and Windows app, payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

Android app from Google Play. If you subscribe inside the Android app, you buy the plan from Google Play and it's charged to your Google account. Google Play prices are shown in your local currency before you buy, and there is no setup fee. Google Play's terms also apply to that purchase, and Google handles billing, renewals, cancellations and refunds for it: cancel in Google Play → Subscriptions (or Settings → Account → Manage or cancel in Google Play), and ask Google for refunds at support.google.com/googleplay. Free-trial and renewal rules work the same way as described below, except that Google sends the receipts and reminders. A plan bought on any of these is linked to your email and works everywhere you sign in.

A plan unlocks recording and importing new audio. Opening, listening to, editing, searching and exporting notes you've already made always works, with or without a plan. We may also give free access at our discretion.

3. Free trial

4. Automatic renewal

Your plan is a continuous subscription. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and we charge your payment method the then-current price, until you cancel. Before you subscribe, we show you these terms and ask for your express consent. After you subscribe, we email you a confirmation with the terms, the price, and how to cancel.

Before a yearly plan renews, we email you a reminder about 30 days ahead, with the amount and how to cancel. Monthly members get a receipt with every payment and a reminder of these terms at least once a year. If we ever change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before the change affects you, and you can cancel before it does.

5. Cancelling

You can cancel online at any time, in the same app where you subscribed: Settings → Account → Manage subscription → Cancel. It takes about a minute, and you don't need to call or email anyone. You can also ask us to cancel by emailing studio@trohnstudio.com. After you cancel, your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for (or the end of your trial), and you won't be charged again. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

6. Refunds

Except as described here or where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable, and we don't give refunds or credits for partly used periods. If you were charged by mistake, for example after you cancelled, or if you forgot to cancel a renewal and contact us within 7 days of the charge, email us and we'll refund you. You can also request a refund if the Service didn't work for you because of a problem on our side.

7. Recording consent: your responsibility

Recording laws differ by place. In California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington, and in some situations Connecticut, Michigan, Nevada and Oregon, everyone in a conversation must agree before it's recorded. Other states and countries have their own rules. When people in different places are on the same call, follow the strictest rule that applies.

You agree to tell everyone, and get their consent, before you record wherever the law requires it, and to use the Service only for lawful recordings. This includes calls you capture with "Also record computer audio." Don't record anyone secretly. Don't record confidential conversations you aren't part of. Don't use the Service to violate anyone's privacy or rights. You are responsible for your recordings and how you use them.

8. Your content

Your recordings, transcripts, notes and AI notes belong to you. They're stored on your device, not on our servers, so we can't access, back up or restore them. You're responsible for keeping copies of anything important (the app can export notes and audio). Clearing your browser's data, uninstalling the app or losing your device can permanently delete your notes.

9. AI transcripts and AI notes

Transcripts, speaker labels, summaries, action items, rewrites and answers are made automatically by AI models on your device. They can contain mistakes, including wrong words, names, numbers, dates or people. Check anything important against the recording before you rely on it. The Service is not a source of legal, medical, financial or other professional advice. Don't use it where an error could cause harm.

10. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the Service. For example, don't break the law or others' rights, interfere with or overload our systems, try to get around plan limits or security, reverse engineer the Service except where the law allows, or resell it without our permission.

11. Our service and intellectual property

We license you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service while you follow these Terms. The app, its design and the Trohn names and logos belong to Trohn App LLC. The open-source AI models and libraries the app uses are provided under their own licences. We may update, change or discontinue features. If we ever discontinue the Service, we'll give you notice and a prorated refund of any prepaid time you haven't used.

12. Accounts and termination

Keep access to your email secure, because it's how you sign in. You can delete your account anytime in the app. A plan that still renews must be cancelled first. We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. We'll tell you why where we can, and refund prepaid time you haven't used unless the suspension was for fraud or illegal use.

13. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will work on every device or browser.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Trohn App LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, notes, recordings, profits or business. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $25. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

15. Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against us because of recordings you made without required consent, or because you broke these Terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, as far as the law allows.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, and applicable federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem informally. If we can't, disputes will be decided in the state or federal courts located in Washington, or in small claims court where you live if your claim qualifies. Nothing here takes away consumer protection rights you have in the state where you live.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We'll change the date above, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the new Terms apply. If you don't agree, you can cancel before they take effect.
